The “Future of Europe CSO Network” urges European Institutions, Member States, and the upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU to ensure that the Conference on the Future of Europe will start promptly. The Conference’s scope should be broad and aimed at developing policy priorities that matter to citizens and institutional proposals, including proposals for treaty change or a new treaty framework. The Conference’s agenda and scope should include a critical assessment of the balance of competences between the EU and the Member States. The fiscal competencies, and a thorough reconsideration of the balance of powers between the Institutions, should be included, as well. Read more here.
