June 15, 2020The European Civic Forum and Stefan Batory Foundation addressed a letter to EU and National leaders, which was signed by numerous civic organizations. The CSOs recall that at the end of May 2020, the European Commission presented a strategy of overcoming the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and preparing the future for the next generations. The EC also presented a draft 7-year budget that is a necessary tool in achieving goals stated in the strategy. In the letter, CSOs indicate that they appreciate that the strategy mentions the civil society as an essential partner in facing the challenges brought to the societies by the pandemic but also indicate about theirs disappointment that the civil society’s role was not adequately reflected in the draft budget.
