The second issue of the BCSDN regional overview on COVID-19 in the Balkans – The State of CSOs, their Involvement in the Crisis Response & State, and Donor Support – presents the uncertainties and difficulties CSOs in the region have been faced with, while also contributing to fill the gaps and respond to the increased needs of citizens. It stresses the increasingly important role of states and donors as partners and supporters of civil society both in ensuring its sustainability and supporting the CSOs’ efforts, and the importance of cooperation across sectors. This edition, as well as the first one focusing on Restrictions on Civic Space and Basic Freedoms and the three special BCSDN newsletters, are available in the new Balkan Civic Practices online edition – a separate website dedicated to provide regular updates on the COVID-19 response of and impact on civil society in the Balkan region, covering the Western Balkan countries, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania and Turkey.
