The Western Balkans Summit in Zagreb had been considered one of the main events of the Croatian Council Presidency, aimed at gathering the leaders of the EU and the region to discuss the Western Balkans path and the future towards EU. Due to the Corona crisis outbreak, the EU WB Summit took place online on 6 May 2020. In the lead up to the Summit, CSOs in the Western Balkans, coordinated by CROSOL, drafted a declaration through which they delivered a message to the EU leaders in the Summit. BCSDN and some of its members took part in the drafting of the document, which emphasizes that the voice of CSOs in regards to the EU integration process should not be exempted. The Declaration urges for a genuine cooperation with WB CSOs in designing and implementing reforms, and both financial and political support to CSOs in their efforts in supporting democracy and rule of law.
