The COVID 19 pandemic will have long-term effects on civil society. Financial loss caused by cancelled activities will result in our partners forgoing critical investments and redirecting resources to delivery of critical services. Crucially, this health emergency is having a disproportionate impact on marginalized groups. Even before the Corona crises, these groups have a hard time attracting funding to cover their total costs. Usually, they do not have the connections or networks to secure stable ways of funding. The article concludes that as civil society groups have been scrambling to respond to the emergency caused by COVID19, many groups face the reality of financial instability, which has been made worse by the current crisis, insisting that donors should provide flexible funding.
