Freedom House, together with Front Line Defenders, and other 19 governments, are providing support to CSOs that are under threat or attack, through the Lifeline Embattled CSO Assistance Fund. The grants can address things related, but not limited to medical expenses, security, legal representation, prison visits, trial monitoring, temporary relocation, and equipment replacement. Through the Fund, there are three types of grants allocated: short-term emergency assistance to CSOs threatened because of their human rights work; rapid response advocacy grants– offering support to push back restrictions on civic space; resilience grants – providing support to CSOs at high-risk to avoid or mitigate the threats they face.
