The Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia and Minister of Defense Radmila Sekerinska made a statement to the media in which she affirmed the end of the “Desorosoization process” – the intuitional attack on thousands of Macedonian citizens and 22 CSOs in the country. The process of targeted financial inspections started in 2016, led by ex-Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski with the intention to threaten, pressure, and silence critical organizations, and ended in 2018 without revealing any illegal action on the side of CSOs. The Deputy PM statement shows a change in the government attitude towards CSOs and upholding basic civic freedoms in the country. Read the full statement (in local language) here.
