Under the auspices of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, International Conference on Agenda 2030: Partnerships for Sustainable Development  took place on the 16th of April, at the Palace of Parliament, in Bucharest. The Conference was organised by the Department of Sustainable Development within the Romanian Government and aimed at  strengthening the coordination for efficiently monitoring the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In the second part of the Conference, a Session dedicated to Civil Society Organisations was facilitated by the Romanian NGDO Platform – FOND Romania has facilitated the, which aimed to highlight the role of the nongovernmental sector in the implementation and monitoring of the 2030 Agenda at both national and European level, by underlining the importance of promoting partnerships for sustainable development and cooperation (reflected in the Sustainable Development Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals).

The conference was attended by more than 300 delegates from 40 countries of  the EU and the EU Neighbourhood. Our Policy and Advocacy Officer, Biljana Spasovska attended the conferance taking part at the Working Thematic Group #5: SDGs in the EU and in neighboring countries: how to strengthen cooperation?

The Conference concluded with the adoption of the Bucharest Declaration on the promotion of partnerships for sustainable development. You can view the Agenda for the event and the official photos here.
