A Resolution on Women’s Rights in the Western Balkans has been adopted by a deliberate majority at a highly intense vote in the Gender Equality Committee of the European Parliament. The main author of the resolution and the Rapporteur of the European Parliament for Women’s Rights in the Western Balkans is the Croatian representative Biljana Borzan, who’s been advocating for years for this resolution, developed together with many NGOs from the region. The resolution is the first document after five years in which the European Parliament expresses its recommendations for women’s rights to women from the region, focusing on protecting women from violence, the position of women in the labor market etc. Read more here.
