The Union of Municipalities of Montenegro, in partnership with the Centre for NGO Development (CRNVO) and the Ministry of the Interior, organized a regional consultative meeting for representatives from local governments and civil society sector “Applying and lessons learned in the implementation of the Ordinance on the establishment of the Council for cooperation between local government and non-governmental organizations and the Rules of Procedures of Municipal Parliament” in Tivat on 5 June 2014.

The meeting was organized as part of the implementation of the Strategy for NGOs development in Montenegro 2014-2016. The main goal of the meeting was to exchange information and share experiences on this topic, highlighting the institute of the “empty chair” in local parliaments. Representatives of the CSO sector presented possibilities and mechanisms to contribute to the establishment of a healthy cooperation between local administration bodies and CSOs and improve the legal framework. Representatives of both sides expressed their readiness for further joint efforts to improve mutual cooperation.
