Civic Initiatives has submitted the amendments to the Draft Law on Accounting, on October 23, 2012. Together with the European Centre for Not-for-Profit Law and the Balkan Fund for Local Initiatives, Civic Initiatives proposed amendments requesting foundations and endowments to be included in the Draft Law. Non-profit organizations ought to be treated differently than profitable legal entities in accounting, bookkeeping and in the chart of accounts implementation. Furthermore, equal treatment of churches and religious communities with other private non-profit legal entities was requested, as well as a non-exclusion from the obligations defined by the Draft Law. Simple bookkeeping for so-called “small” organizations (those which have limited turnover on their accounts or without assets) was also included in the amendments. A broad advocacy campaign was launched and more than 190 CSOs have supported the initiative in short time period. This campaign is implemented in the frames of the „Civil Society Advocacy Initiative“ program supported by ISC/USAID. More in Serbian…
